Have questions? We have answers for you.

Anyone passionate about sustainability can join, including students, academics, professionals, and community leaders. We welcome diverse backgrounds, from those with advanced degrees or professional experience in sustainability to students with enthusiasm and transferable skills. No formal experience is required for entry-level roles like Student Ambassadors.

Apply through the “Join Our Mission” form on the Register – Sustainability Global, providing your background and a statement of interest directly in the form. No resume upload is required. Alternatively, higher-ranking members, such as Pillar Chairs, Co-Chairs, or board members, can nominate you for any role. Nominations for Pillar Chair or Co-Chair are reviewed by a committee, while other roles are directly appointed by a Pillar Chair or board member.

Once accepted, you’ll be assigned to a pillar and role based on your interests and skills. You’ll receive a welcome package, access to collaborative tools, and invitations to pillar meetings and community forums. Your public profile, featuring your name, role, bio, and contributions, will be created on our website, with full control to update or remove it at any time.

Roles are flexible, typically requiring 1 to 4 hours per month, depending on your position (e.g., Pillar Chair versus Student Ambassador). You can adjust your involvement to fit your schedule, ensuring a balance that supports meaningful contributions.

No, membership is free. As a volunteer-driven nonprofit, we eliminate financial barriers, relying on the passion and expertise of our members to advance sustainability.

Yes, while you’ll be primarily affiliated with one pillar, you can collaborate across pillars on interdisciplinary projects or initiatives that align with your skills and interests, fostering innovation and impact.

We celebrate your work through credits in reports, features in newsletters, and highlights on our website and social media. Members may also be nominated for sustainability awards or invited to present at global conferences and partner events.

Projects vary, from research in areas like renewable energy or circular economy to practical initiatives like community education or policy advocacy. All projects align with the SDGs and your pillar’s goals, offering opportunities to lead or support impactful work.

Yes, you have full control over your profile, including your name, bio, and highlighted work. You can request updates or removal at any time through a simple process, ensuring your privacy is respected.

We offer mentorship from pillar leaders, access to collaborative platforms (e.g., project management tools, research databases), and regular knowledge-sharing sessions. Volunteers also benefit from leadership training, global networking, and career development opportunities.

Absolutely, we encourage newcomers with a passion for learning. Roles like Student Ambassadors require no prior experience, and we provide guidance to help you develop skills and contribute effectively.

We foster an inclusive community by welcoming diverse backgrounds, regions, and perspectives. Our selection process is equitable, with flexible criteria and support for underrepresented groups through mentorship and accessible roles.

Interviews are optional and not mandatory for any role. For Pillar Chair or Co-Chair positions, the review committee may conduct a virtual interview to discuss your vision. For other roles, a brief virtual discussion may clarify expectations, but direct appointments are common.

Senior roles like Pillar Chair prefer significant expertise in a sustainability field and leadership skills, but we consider diverse experiences and transferable skills. For example, a Pillar Chair might be an academic or professional with a track record in projects or advocacy, though no strict years of experience are required. All roles value passion and alignment with our mission.
