How to Submit an Article, Featured Article, or Blog Post to Sustainability Global Magazine

Sustainability Global Magazine is a monthly publication that curates a blend of original thought pieces, policy insights, project case studies, and peer-reviewed research summaries aligned with the seven sustainability global pillars. Each issue includes three types of contributions:

Types of Submissions

1. Magazine Feature Article (Cover Story – Peer-Reviewed or Impact Basis)

Feature Articles are invited contributions for the cover section of Sustainability Global Magazine, highlighting exceptional, real-world impact or published academic work in sustainability. These are featured on the front, inside front, back, or inside back cover.

We welcome submissions from:

  • Authors of peer-reviewed academic articles in recognized journals.

  • Industry leaders, project managers, and change-makers leading high-impact sustainability initiatives.

  • Individuals or teams recognized for innovation, leadership, or scalable solutions aligned with sustainability goals.

Key Requirements:

  • Based on a peer-reviewed journal publication or a high-impact project, initiative, or innovation already recognized or implemented. We recommend following the writing style used in the articles available in the archivehttps://sustainabilityglobal.org/article/

  • Written in accessible, engaging language for a wide, interdisciplinary sustainability audience.

  • We encourage SEO optimization of the content before submission. 

  • Word count: 600–1800 words.

  • 1 image: either a graphical abstract or a representative project figure (minimum 300 dpi, .jpg or .png).

  • 1 high-resolution author photo for layout on the cover.

    Preferred: half-length shot with a warm, confident smile or a composed professional pose (see example below).

  • Hyperlinked references within the text (no footnotes or endnotes).

  • Clear, informative title and section headers that are easy to follow.

  • A short author bio (100–150 words), including role, affiliation, and relevant achievements.

  • A signed Declaration of Consent allowing use of the author photo on the cover (see template below).

Feature articles are eligible for cover display. Authors must submit the declaration allowing their photo to be used in the magazine’s design.

2. Standard Magazine/Website Article (Original Insight, Review, or Commentary)

Standard Articles reflect new insights, opinion pieces, field experiences, community projects, or sector reviews. They are more structured and formal than blog posts but do not require a peer-reviewed source.

Key Requirements:

  • Word count: 600–1500 words
  • 1 graphical abstract image or supporting figure (min. 300 dpi)
  • Hyperlinked references (see below for guidelines)
  • Author bio (80–100 words)
  • Written in a professional but accessible tone. We recommend following the writing style used in the articles available in the archivehttps://sustainabilityglobal.org/article/
  • We encourage SEO optimization of the content before submission.

Standard articles are included in the magazine body but are not featured on the cover.

3. Blog Post (Informal, Narrative-Based Piece)

Blog posts are short, impactful pieces written in a conversational tone. They may cover local projects, policy commentary, educational overviews, or interviews.

Key Requirements:

  • Word count: 500–1200 words
  • 1 relevant image or chart (min. 300 dpi)
  • Minimal or no technical jargon; clear subheadings encouraged. We recommend following the writing style used in the blogs available in the archivehttps://sustainabilityglobal.org/blogs/
  • We encourage SEO optimization of the content before submission.
  • Hyperlinked references where applicable
  • Brief author bio (50–80 words)

Blog posts appear on the Sustainability Global website and may be featured in the digital magazine but are not eligible for cover display.

Submission Format

All submissions must be prepared as follows:

  • Format: Microsoft Word (.docx)
  • Font: Calibri or Times New Roman, 11 pt
  • Line spacing: 1.5
  • All references should be hyperlinked inline, not listed separately.

How to Hyperlink References in MS Word

To hyperlink a reference in your Word document:

  1. Select the text (e.g., “Smith et al., 2023”).
  2. Press Ctrl + K (or right-click → “Link”).
  3. Paste the URL or DOI (e.g., doi.org/10.1016/j.jclepro.2023.139201) into the dialog box.
  4. Click OK.

  • Prepare your manuscript in MS Word according to the appropriate category.
  • Send your submission to:  editor@sustainabilityglobal.org

Email subject line:

  • Feature Article Submission – [Title]
  • Article Submission – [Title]
  • Blog Post Submission – [Title]

Attach:

  • Manuscript (.docx)
  • 1 image (graphical abstract, photo, or chart)
  • Author photo (only for feature articles)
  • Author bio
  • For feature articles: a copy or link to the original peer-reviewed journal publication, project, Industry weblink, or professional weblink (if possible)
  • Declaration form (feature articles only)

Submission Deadlines

We publish monthly. Submissions are accepted year-round, but to be considered for a specific issue, please submit by the 1st of the preceding month.

For example:

  • February Issue – Deadline: January 1

  • March Issue – Deadline: February 1

  • April Issue – Deadline: March 1
    …and so on.

Editorial Process

  • Submissions are reviewed by the editorial board for clarity, relevance, and formatting.
  • We may suggest editorial adjustments for tone, structure, or word choice.
  • Additionally, please note that all submitted articles and blog posts will undergo final editing to optimize SEO performance. By submitting, you acknowledge and agree to this editorial process.
  • Selected pieces will be published in digital magazine, and/or the website.
