Step-by-Step Guide to Managing Your Data
1. Access Privacy Settings
- Open the app (e.g. website) and go to the Settings section. These controls are easily accessible from your profile’s “Privacy” section (https://sustainabilityglobal.org/account/) and comply with GDPR and other global standards.
- Look for the Privacy Settings option—this is where you can manage your personal data.
2. Manage Profile Visibility
- Inside Privacy Settings, find the section for Profile Privacy.
- Select who can view your profile:
- Everyone – Visible to all users.
- Friends Only – Only your connected users can see your profile.
- Only Me – Your profile remains private.
3. Control Search Engine Indexing
- Some apps allow you to control whether your profile appears in search engines.
- If you want privacy, disable the option “Allow search engines to index my profile”.
4. Hide Profile from Public Directory
- If the app has a public user directory, this setting lets you opt out.
- Enable Hide my profile to remove it from public listings.
5. Adjust Visibility of Last Login & Online Status
- Some platforms display when you were last active.
- You can choose:
- Show my last login and online status – Other users will see when you were last online.
- Hide my last login and online status – Keeps your activity private.
6. Request Personal Data Download
- To get a copy of your stored data:
- Find the Download My Data option.
- Enter your password to verify your identity.
- Click Request Data—you’ll receive a file with all your saved information.
7. Erase Your Data from the App
- If you want to permanently delete your data:
- Locate Erase My Data under Privacy Settings.
- Enter your password to confirm the request.
- Click Request Data Erase—this deletes all stored information associated with your account.
8. Save Your Privacy Settings
- Any changes you make won’t take effect until you save them.
- Scroll to the bottom of Privacy Settings and click Update Privacy to confirm changes.
