Rizwana Abbasi is currently a Professor at the National University of Modern Languages in Islamabad. Previously, she was a fellow at the EastWest Institute in New York. She also served as an associate professor in the Department of Humanities at Bahria University and in the Department of International Relations at the National Defense University in Islamabad. She is a former Fellow of the Stimson Center, USA, and a graduate of the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies (DKI APCSS), Hawaii, USA. Earlier, she was a post-doctoral fellow and taught at the University of Leicester in the UK. She also was a research fellow at the University of Leeds, UK. She received a PhD in International Relations and Political Science from the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom. She has authored several books, including: Changing Patterns of Warfare between India and Pakistan (Oxford: Routledge, 2023); Building a Road to Nuclear Disarmament: Bridging the Gap between Competing Approaches (Oxford: Routledge, 2021); Nuclear Deterrence in South Asia: New Technologies and Challenges to Sustainable Peace (Oxford: Routledge, 2019); Pakistan and the New Nuclear Taboo: Regional Deterrence and the International Arms Control Regime (Oxford, New York: Peter Lang, 2012).
