Zainab Naeem is a PhD scholar in Environmental Sciences, with an MPhil and a Bachelor’s degree in the same field. Her research interests encompass climate resilience, circular economy, climate risk insurance, and environmental diplomacy. At SDPI, she leads research and policy advocacy on climate diplomacy, urban climate-resilient development, and circular economy. Her projects cover themes such as plastics circularity, used-textiles trade, water governance, climate finance, and risk insurance strategies.
She has contributed to developing sustainability and ESG reports for corporate organizations, highlighting ecological and socio-economic practices. Zainab has also facilitated capacity-building sessions on carbon markets, urban resilience, and climate communications for corporate entities, journalists, youth, and public sector organizations. Additionally, she has supported public and private schools with environmental education curriculum development and designed research communication strategies for SDPI’s key programs.
To enhance private sector engagement in climate action, Zainab introduced the Sustainability Investment Expo (SIE) and Sustainability Awards at SDPI in 2023. She is SDPI’s focal person for the CoRe Alliance and UN Living Indus Initiative. With expertise in SCP Hotspot Analysis, GHG Inventory, and geo-spatial modelling, Zainab represented SDPI as a delegate at COP28, showcasing her dedication to advancing global climate resilience.
